St. Johns County School Board Chairman Bev Slough has recently filed paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission to run for Florida’s 6th Congressional District. The district encompasses St. Johns, Flagler, and parts of Putnam and Volusia counties.

“Congress is in desperate need of true conservatives and common sense leadership. Over the past decade, as a School Board member, I’ve helped balance a nearly half-billion dollar budget, manage 3,600 employees and reduce spending, all while maintaining Florida’s top-rated school district,” said Slough.

Slough is the only current candidate for Florida’s 6th Congressional District to live, work, raise a family, and to hold elective office within the district.

Slough stated:”the citizens of St. Johns, Flagler, Putnam, and Volusia counties deserve a Representative who understands their unique needs. I’ve lived in this district for over 33 years, raised my family here, worked here, and I’ve had the honor to serve this great community both on the School Board and through multiple charities.”

Bev Slough currently serves as Chairman of the St. Johns County School Board. St. Johns County has been ranked the top school district in Florida for the past three years. Bev is also President of the First Coast United Way, Past President of both the Florida School Boards Association and EPIC Community Services, and an active member of the boards of St. Johns Education Foundation, PACT Prevention Coalition, Character Counts!, and JCP Cares.

Bev lives in St. Johns, Florida with her husband, Wes, pastor of Switzerland Community Church. They have two daughters, Julie Simmons and Elizabeth Slough, and two grandchildren.
