ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – Just one week ago, Bev Slough announced her candidacy for United States Congress. Today, Bev Slough announces the unanimous endorsement of her fellow St. Johns County School Board members Tommy Allen, Bill Mignon, Bill Fehling, and Carla Wright as well as St. Johns County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Joseph Joyner.
“It is rare that we have an opportunity to send someone to Congress as uniquely and highly qualified as Bev Slough,” said Dr. Joseph Joyner. “Bev’s devotion to her community is unmatched, as is her conviction to do the right thing. Bev Slough will be a courageous leader in Washington.”
Tommy Allen stated, “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Bev Slough for nearly ten years on the St. Johns County School Board. Bev is authentic, honest, and has a heart for the citizens she serves. Congress needs a leader who will do what’s right, Congress needs Bev Slough.”
“Bev Slough’s knowledge, sincerity, and character make her an effective leader we can trust. She understands the needs of our community, can build a consensus, and will get things done! I am honored to endorse Bev for Congress,” explained Bill Mignon.
“Congress needs Bev Slough’s courageous and tenacious leadership. She understands how to reform education and get Americans back to work,” said Bill Fehling. “No one will work harder or be more effective than Bev Slough.”
Carla Wright emphasized, “for eleven years, I have served on the St. Johns County School Board and for ten of those years, I have served with Bev Slough. Bev has been a tireless advocate for our parents, educators, children and taxpayers. I’m excited to endorse Bev Slough to make a difference in Congress.”
Bev Slough currently serves as Chairman of the St. Johns County School Board. St. Johns County has been ranked the top school district in Florida for the past three years. Bev is also President of the First Coast United Way, Past President of both the Florida School Boards Association and EPIC Community Services, and an active member of the boards of St. Johns Education Foundation, PACT Prevention Coalition, Character Counts!, and JCP Cares.
Bev lives in St. Johns, Florida with her husband Wes, pastor of Switzerland Community Church. They have two daughters, Julie Simmons and Elizabeth Slough, and two grandchildren.
